Malaga has two metro lines and a total of 17 stations which only opened in 2014. At the moment an extension is being constructed that will add further stops right in the city center. Long term a further 4 lines are planned.
Both metro lines stop at El Perchel Station which links them to the María Zambrano Station which runs services locally and nationally and has high speed (AVE) services. The main bus station (Estación de Autobuses de Málaga) is also next door.
From María Zambrano you can catch local services to Malaga airport, and several coastal resorts including Fuengirola and Torremolinos. You can also take a service to Álora which has a station for visitors to the world-famous Caminito de Rey.
María Zambrano Station also runs a range of RENFE middle distance services throughout Andalucia. Cities linked in this network of lines are; Malaga, Cordoba, Seville, Jaén, Cadiz, Granada, Almería, Linares/Baeza, Bobadilla, Algeciras, Huelva, Zafra, Ciudad Real, Madrid, Mérida.

Malaga Bus Routes and Timetables
The bus station has a website that lists all possible destinations. Click one of these (you have to wait a few seconds) and all the bus numbers, times, company, where to buy tickets etc are then listed. To consult the timetable click here service.
The Malaga city buses are easy to use, good value and safe. EMT run all the services and there are 50 lines covering the whole of the city. The bus stops clearly list which services run from them with full route maps and timetables. The electronic screens on the bus stops tell you which services will arrive and in how many minutes. Once you are on the bus there are terminals which show you, in real time, where you are on a city map so you can easily work out where you need to hop off.
Note that the buses do not accept notes of E20 or more so keep your change handy. A single trip costs 1.30€ or buy a 10 trip card for 8.30€. 20 and 30 trip cards are also available and can be purchased from tobacconist shops. For more information;
