White villages near Malaga

When talking about Malaga it is worth keeping in mind that there is a great difference between ‘Malaga City’ and ‘Malaga province’.  Whilst Malaga City has a population of roughly 0.5 million the province has closer to 2 million.  The following map shows the Malaga province on a map of Spain.

The Malaga province covers an area of 7,308 square kilometres (2,822 sq mi) and the population density is higher than both the Spanish and Andalucia averages. The major areas of popluation are Malaga city itself and then; Marbella, Mijas, Fuengirola, Vélez-Málaga, Torremolinos, Estepona, and Benalmádena and these are all coastal towns. Inland the major towns are Antequera and Ronda.

Going beyond the major towns of Malaga we discover the enchanting white villages of Malaga or ‘pueblo blancos’.
